Hepatits B Initiative
Hepatitis B Initiative (HBI), is a event that takes place monthly in the St. Paul and Minneapolis area. They provide free testing of Hepatitis B, C, Glucose, and Cholesterol to minorities. Dam-Tam Pha-Hoang is the program manager for HBI. She’s been promoting and providing the free tests. The purpose of this event was to help provide free testing services to the community who are in need.
Chronic hepatitis B infection (HBV) can cause liver cancer. Many older Hmongs have it and should get checked so they can prevent further development into more dangerous states of liver cancer. Most Hmongs also do not have a primary care physician so it is imperative that everyone get checked and find out what can be done to lessen the affects of Hepatitis B.
HBI-Minnesota is a non-profit that was started in October 2015 to provide free hepatitis B and hepatitis C education, testing and linkage to care for the underserved communities of Minnesota. They provide FREE health testing, viral hepatitis education and linkage to care services for the underserved communities in the Twin Cities!
